Fairness rules currently active
- · Conflict-of-interest items (family employment, vendor ties, disclosure questions) are scored under transparency, not faith and family alignment.
- · Extended-family ecosystem connections (sibling, cousin, in-law, etc.) cap at low severity unless evidence shows failure to disclose under TX Local Government Code Ch. 171 or failure to recuse on a relevant vote.
- · Household conflicts (spouse / partner / dependent on payroll) keep their recorded severity because the financial nexus is direct.
- · Hard overrides only apply to documented child-safety, parent-rights, or sex-based privacy violations with FACT or DOCUMENTED_INFERENCE labels.
See something that looks unfair? Use the public discussion below this profile or the report button at the top to flag it. Sourced corrections will update the dossier and the score.

Narrative
What the record says now
Crista Black is an education insider trustee who brings a career in public school instruction and curriculum to the Longview ISD board. An LISD graduate herself, her professional career includes classroom teaching in Frisco ISD (beginning circa 2001) and progressively responsible roles in Pine Tree ISD, where she served as teacher, instructional specialist, and ELA curriculum coordinator.
Outside the classroom, Black has been deeply embedded in Longview-area civic and volunteer organizations. She served as President of the Junior League of Longview and has been active in the East Texas Literacy Council and Heartisans Marketplace. Within the LISD orbit, she held leadership roles in the Hudson PEP Elementary PTO and Foster Middle School PTO before being elected to the board.
Black was elected unopposed to Place 4 in May 2023, succeeding Ginia Northcutt, and currently serves as Assistant Secretary of the board. She also serves as President of the LISD Education Foundation, a dual role that presents a disclosure question: the Foundation raises and distributes funds that benefit the district she governs, and voters should understand how that relationship is managed.
Her ELA curriculum background makes her positions on book policies, content standards, and instructional materials especially important to track. The cross-district employment question (Pine Tree ISD employment concurrent with LISD governance) is another area warranting transparency.
No negative public-record items have surfaced as of this research date. The appropriate next step is the mechanical records pull described in the workflow, not speculation.
