Brett Miller

Brett F. Miller is an establishment-rooted Longview attorney with multi-generational ties to the community and the local high school. His public record is consistent with a lawyer-trustee archetype: Longview native, TCU and SMU Law educated, practicing at a locally prominent firm, active in the local federal bar, and serving on the school board during a period of significant district transitions including a new superintendent and a major bond-funded facilities program.

First elected in 2020 after challenging an incumbent educator, Miller was unopposed for reelection in 2023 and, absent a late filing surprise, is again on the ballot in 2026. His publicly stated motivations have been parental (three young children in LISD at the time of his first run) and civic, and he framed his 2020 candidacy as agenda-less curiosity about policy questions such as the SB 1882 charter conversion debate then before the district.

The expanded public-record dive on Miller is mostly open.
