The Texas House passed HB 1750, a property tax relief measure that could save homeowners thousands. Here's how your representatives voted.

The Texas House of Representatives passed HB 1750 this week, a sweeping property tax reform bill that raises the homestead exemption and caps annual appraisal increases at 5% for residential properties. The bill passed 112-35 with strong bipartisan support.

All East Texas state representatives in HD-7 and surrounding districts voted in favor of the bill. This aligns with the campaign promises most made during their elections regarding property tax relief.

The bill now heads to the Texas Senate, where it is expected to face amendments. Senator Bryan Hughes (SD-1) has indicated support for the measure.

Homeowners in Smith County alone could see an average savings of $800-1,200 per year if the bill passes in its current form.
